My osteopathic working experience

Picture of Florent Majoullier, osteopath in Nice, FranceGraduated in 2007 from the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone (ESO), England, I have studied structural, visceral and cranio-sacral osteopathy. Being trained in classical osteopathy, my treatments are suitable for all. Therefore, I have been treating many infants, pregnant women, adults and elderly people. After 7 years spent in England, I have created in France the Natural Health Centre. A practice where patient’s individuality is taken into consideration.

For the last few years, I have diversified by learning a new approach named the Osteopathic Mechanical Link (LMO). An osteopathic technique perfected in France proven as the most scientific method for osteopathic diagnosis. This treatment also complies with current French law. The LMO is very efficient, accurate and results in virtually no post-treatment aches or pains. The LMO is a complimentary therapy which does not involve any manipulations (“clicking joints”) or high amplitude techniques. “No pain, no gain” is often a common misconstrued premise occasionally conveyed by practitioners but does not necessarily have to be the case.

Although osteopathy is effective for many conditions and symptoms, it is important to appreciate that it is not magical or miraculous for all situations. Therefore, although patients and practitioners are both anxious to achieve the best results possible, this may take time and several treatments.

Currently, I am the only LMO practitionner in Nice. Given this novel and very gentle approach, patients are quite surprised and very satisfied with the results achieved with this technique. LMO practioners have at their disposal a whole network of healthcare practitioners with whom we share the same holistic and human approach of health.

What is osteopathy ?

Osteopathy is a natural, manual and scientific medicine based on the inherent ability of the human body to treat itself. It is a holistic health care therapy where the body is thought as a global entity.

The aim of osteopathy is to release tissue’s tensions or “blockages” resulting from traumas, pathologies or events linked to our environment. It balances all the different body systems, thus emphasising or maintaining our vitality. Osteopathic treatments take into consideration all the signs and symptoms described by the patient, but may not dwell entirely on only those. Just as dispersing the smoke does not extinguish a fire, osteopathic treatments endeavour to establish the root cause of the pain to alleviate symptoms. In certain cases, where chronic conditions exist, symptomatic treatment can also be applied.

Despite its recognition, osteopathy arouses many common preconceptions. With little reliable information available to the lay-person, patients, healthcare practitioners or administrative authorities, there is quite a degree of misunderstanding as to the position, purpose of efficacy of osteopathy. Osteopathy brings health and the results of its correct application has far reaching positive effects.

What does osteopathy treat ?

Osteopathy is very efficient for many disorders. The following is a non-exhaustive list of conditions treated by osteopaths. Although an osteopath can be seen without referral, referral from a medical practitioner may be needed in certain instances.
